This practice is required to provide our clients with notice of our privacy practices with respect to protected personal information collected from this website. We also provide information on many aspects of what Dog Meadow offers and how it operates.
All bookings require a 50% non-refundable and non-transferable deposit for every date that is reserved. We find that without this policy, we have spots that remain empty while others could have benefited.
Bookings must be requested via email. All bookings are tentative unless confirmed via email. If you have not received a confirmation, please write to us and confirm the dates. If you do not have an email confirming a reservation for specific dates, you do not have a reservation. If a request is made and your dog is not vaccinated and/or not spayed or neutered at the time of the request, and you wish to reserve a booking, a 50% non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking. All deposits must be paid within 24 hours of being requested. We cannot reserve a booking without a deposit and the client understands that they risk losing the requested reservation. When the date of your stay arrives and your dog has not met the requirements, both the deposit and the dates are forfeited. Deposits are not transferable.
Deposits are for every date that is reserved. The total balance is due 24 hours prior to drop-off or at the time of drop-off if paying by cash or check.
Dates added to an existing stay after a deposit is made are treated as a new request and are subject to the original pricing as stated on our pricing page.
Whether one week in advance or one year in advance, deposits are non-refundable and are NOT transferable to other dates. Deposits are for every date that is reserved. When you place a deposit you agree to these terms.
Payments that are not used due to dropping off your dog at a later date or picking them up at an earlier date are also non-refundable and non-transferable.
Our refund policy is designed to ensure fairness to all parties involved. When your dates are reserved and confirmed, you agree to these terms. We are a small-volume business and if customers book months in advance and can cancel, the booking schedule becomes meaningless and makes it difficult for everyone. Dog Meadow is your dog's luxury vacation destination. Just because your plans were canceled doesn't mean your dog's vacation should be too.
Holidays are busy at Dog Meadow. Please remember to book your stay early! Since we only book a small number of dogs, we want to ensure that all owners have the opportunity to have their dogs enjoy the unique experience that we offer. Therefore, we require that a 50% non-refundable deposit be made to secure your stay during these popular times. We cannot reserve a booking without a deposit and the client understands that they risk losing the requested reservation. Holidays include the days surrounding Martin Luther King, President’s Day/Week, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Columbus Day, and Veterans Day. Also, the weeks surrounding Thanksgiving, as well as Christmas and through the New Year.
We will do everything in our power to honor all existing reservations. However, we reserve the right to cancel any reservation due to the following situations: if your dog exhibits any serious signs of aggression toward another dog or a person, is unreasonably destructive, is an escape artist, and is able and willing to scale the 5-foot fencing, exhibits continued undue stress and anxiety relating to separation from the owner, or develops health problems beyond our capabilities. While a dog is on our premises, we will take appropriate measures for their care during these situations.
All dogs must be universally housebroken. This means that they should know to go outside. We understand that a dog, especially a young one, may have an occasional accident which is acceptable. For the health and safety of our dogs, wee-wee pads are not used. Wee-wee pads present a danger to some dogs that might use them as a toy, shred and/or ingest them. Dog Meadow is a cageless environment. The specially designed dog living room is a busy place where dogs will enter freely throughout the day and continue their play indoors.
Although not required, Dog Meadow recommends that all dogs have dog training and basic commands, whether you take him to a group environment at an offsite location or have a trainer come to you or do it yourself at home is your discretion.
Currently, we do not provide a training course per se. We will, however, take the opportunity to reinforce commands that your dog has learned. Basic commands may include but are not limited to: come, sit, stay, down, leave it. There will be occasions when devices such as a 30-ft (or shorter) light line will be used when a dog at play needs more direction or training, especially if we feel it is in the best interest of the safety of your dog and/or the safety of the rest of our guests. These training methods will be discussed with the dog owners ahead of time as needed.
Due to our open environment, all new dogs will require a trial day to determine whether Dog Meadow is a fit for them. If you are seeking boarding, in addition to a day’s trial, your dog may be required to spend one night’s stay for them to acclimate to their new environment prior to boarding for any length of time. Please note that trials are based on availability and this may delay the process of reserving any requested dates. Therefore, it is crucial that this is done in a timely manner and that you have an alternate strategy if Dog Meadow is not a good fit for your dog. A trial day consists of drop-off between 7:30 AM - 9 AM and pick-up after 3 PM unless you are asked to pick up your dog sooner. Someone must be available if you are asked to pick up your dog. If your dog cannot be picked up it may be separated and/or placed in a crate for their safety. The same daycare rate applies to the trial day. Prices are listed on our Pricing page. All dogs must undergo a trial day without exception. If your dog is asked to return for a trial boarding night, it is charged at the nightly rate.
Dog Meadow is not for everyone. If your dog exhibits behavior that shows that Dog Meadow is not a fit for them, you will be called to pick them up as soon as possible. The dog may be separated from the rest of the group if the dog is not able to be picked up. If your dog is working out in this environment they can be picked up from 3 PM - 7 PM. If your dog cannot be picked up before 7 PM, they will be boarding for the night and must be picked up before 1 PM the following day. Boarding charges will apply. If they cannot be picked up before 1 PM the following day, a daycare charge will apply. Prices are listed on our Pricing page.
At the discretion of Dog Meadow, some dogs may not be permitted.
It is important that all dogs be well-socialized. Prior daycare experience, as well as prior boarding experience, is important. This experience will ease the transition in the open environment that we offer. If a dog lacks socialization he may be asked to get more experience and possibly return at a later date.
Daycare: Drop-off: 730 AM - 9 AM. Daycare pick-up: 3 PM - 7 PM. Please, no walk-ins.
Boarding: Drop-off: 730 AM - 9 AM. Pick-up: Before 1 PM. An alternate drop-off for boarders is 5 PM. Please, no walk-ins. If your dog must be picked up after 1 PM, a daycare charge will be added.
If your dog cannot be picked up before 7 PM, they will be boarding for the night and must be picked up before 1 PM the following day. Boarding charges will apply. If they cannot be picked up before 1 PM the following day, a daycare charge will apply. Prices are listed on our Pricing page.
The health of our dogs is of utmost importance. Your dog will not be allowed to interact with our guests until they are fully vaccinated per our requirements. Proof of vaccinations is mandatory. Your veterinarian will be a reference and will be contacted to confirm up-to-date vaccinations. If there are health issues with your pup, we appreciate you reaching out to your vet and providing permission for Dog Meadow to discuss any health issues that your dog might have. We will connect with your veterinarian for proof of Rabies, Distemper, Bordetella, and Canine Influenza. Please note that Canine Influenza, if given for the first time, is a two-part vaccine administered several weeks apart. Please read the paragraph regarding Confirmation of Bookings and Vaccinations.
Many people who bring their dogs to Dog Meadow ask us about ticks. Ticks are everywhere. You cannot escape them unless your dog lives in a concrete jungle! Of course, the chemicals used to combat ticks can be as dangerous if not more dangerous than the diseases that ticks carry.
Not to worry... We DO NOT spray our fields or any part of our property for ticks. Our premises are safe from chemicals. Many lawn chemicals have a long half-life in the soil and Bifenthrin, used to kill ticks is known to be an endocrine disruptor. Many chemicals in this class of chemicals have been strongly linked to cancer – specifically lymphoma. Dogs may also react to these chemicals neurologically with seizures, etc. Therefore, we advise that your dog should be on a tick preventative as advised by your veterinarian. Many of our customers use products such as Frontline on their dogs. According to the Pet Poison Helpline, most such preventatives stay within the skin oils and are not absorbed into the bloodstream. This is a safer option than having your dog lick, breathe, and eat chemically treated grass!
If your dog does not use any preventatives, we will usually check for ticks throughout your dog’s stay, but cannot guarantee your dog from being tick-free upon leaving Dog Meadow.
Regardless of the routine outside of Dog Meadow, all dogs are fed twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. All dogs are fed in a crate. Smaller breeds may be fed in a secured pen. Since every dog has a special diet, all food and treats are to be provided by the dog owner. Please provide food in one, secure and properly labeled, hard container. (Ziploc bags are not acceptable.) Extra food is recommended as your dog may require additional food due to the increase in exercise and activity. Treats should be simple and quickly edible. Long-lasting treats such as rinds and bully sticks are not acceptable due to our open environment. Instructions must include the serving size of meals, treats, and medication if any. If you do not provide sufficient food, we will allow a minimum of two meals (IAMS Lamb and Rice) free of charge if you have checked YES at the time of the form submission. Any meals thereafter will be charged at $5 dollars per day. Although this is beyond our control, if a dog gets sick (due to ingesting grass or something that causes digestive issues, including anxiety) and requires special meals, we will provide a bland diet consisting of rice, chicken, and/or pumpkin (please let us know of any allergies). This meal plan will also be at a cost of $5 per day. In both cases, the dog owner will be notified of the measures we will take to rectify either situation.
Any dog that actively exhibits food aggression during treat times may be permanently dismissed.
If your dog should need veterinary attention during his stay, we will make every attempt to contact you first. If we cannot reach you, you authorize us to take the necessary measures to safely transport him in our vehicles to receive the appropriate medical care.
