The Town of Washington

Dog Meadow is located in the Town of Washington, NY. The town requires that your dog be licensed. Proof of license sent via email is required prior to staying at Dog Meadow. The town will be contacted to confirm.

Holiday booking

Holidays are busy at Dog Meadow. Since we only book a small number of dogs, we want to ensure that all owners have the opportunity to have their dog enjoy the unique experience that we offer. Therefore, we require that a 50% nonrefundable deposit be made to secure your stay during these popular times. Holidays include: The days surrounding President's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, and Columbus Day. Also, the weeks surrounding Thanksgiving, as well as Christmas  and through the New Year.

Ticks

Many people who bring their dogs to Dog Meadow ask us about ticks. Ticks are everywhere. You cannot escape them unless your dog lives in a concrete jungle! Of course, the chemicals used to combat ticks can be as dangerous if not more dangerous than the diseases that ticks carry.

Not to worry... We do not spray our fields for ticks. Our premises are safe from chemicals. Many lawn chemicals have a long half-life in the soil and Bifenthrin, used to kill ticks is known to be an endocrine disruptor. Many chemicals in this class of chemicals have been strongly linked to cancer-specifically lymphoma. Dogs may also react to these chemicals neurologically with seizures, etc. Therefore, we advise that your dog should be on a tick preventative as advised by your veterinarian such as Frontline, etc. According to the Pet Poison Helpline, such preventatives stay within the skin oils and is not absorbed into the bloodstream. This is considered a safer option than having your dog lick, breathe, and eat chemically treated grass!

Changes in Policy

Please note that our policy may change from time to time. While we expect most such changes will be minor, we will post any Policy changes on this page.
